Andreas Kontellis was born in Athens in 1966. He received lessons of painting with Vrassidas Vlachopoulos (1982-1984). He studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts ( ASFA, 1984-1990), under P.Tetsis. In 1993, he was awarded, after examinations, with a three year scholarship by the Greek State Scholarship Foundation. In 2000, after a four year scholarship by the Athens Academy for postgraduate studies, he completed a Master of Art in Fine Art, at Middlesex University of London, under John Thompson and Jim Mooney.
