Missing Sister – Trilogy

On Friday 23rd April at 7.30pm, Skoufa Gallery opens Amalia Sotiropoulou’s solo photography exhibition titled “The Missing Sister – Trilogy”. The exhibition will run until Monday 11th May.
This exhibition is the third and final part of a trilogy that begun in 2013 and is dedicated to the Caryatids from Erechtheum. The first group of photographs placed iconic Caryatids within an urban environment. A year later, Amalia Sotiropoulou continued her artistic journey with a visit to the British museum in order to photograph the “Missing Sister” which is displayed there.
This group of photographs completes the trilogy with an iconic visit of the Caryatid from abroad to meet her “sisters” in Athens hoping to connect with history and her past. Sotiropoulou uses this exhibition to state her demand for the return of the Parthenon’s sculptures back to their country of origin as a token of respect for Greece and the Greek civilization.
