Skoufa Gallery – Mykonos is pleased to present Nektarios Aposporis solo exhibition, titled “Into the Wild”, which will be on view from the 27th of July to the 2nd of August 2022.

Nektarios Aposporis, frequently uses animals as subject matter in his work, in this series lies a desire to liberate animals from their place as metaphorical placeholders for humans not to fundamentally change their nature but to turn them in ideas, in our wishes, our fears, our way we regard and interact in the real world.
Animals always had a symbolic place in art, through time animals have appeared in paintings, sculptures, and prints. Many cultures through the ages have regarded specific animals as representing gods, power, even the supernatural. Animals have always been an integral component of human storytelling. They stand in for humans in fables and take the place of people in morality tales. In fact, the personification of animals is so common that most of us inherently and accept animals as representative symbols for human behavior and interaction. In this sense the artists forces the audience to look further. No matter how our way of living has changed through the ages, no matter how different we now defining ideas as desire or need. Our inner core is an organic part of everything around us, being free, turning “Into the Wild” of how we perceive, treat and think about ourselves and each other.
