Solo exhibition by Kostas Spyriounis
“And Summer is already gone…”

Skoufa Gallery is happy to present Kostas Spyriounis’ new solo exhibition, titled “And Summer is already gone…” with recent paintings that he executed during the last four years. The opening of the show will take place on Thursday 19th January 2023, at 17.30 – 21.30 and it will run until the 11th February 2023.
In the middle of winter, Spiriounis draws his inspiration from the summer and in this series of paintings that are executed on canvas, he records snapshots from the last days of the summer as seen through his own eyes: diving in the sea, playing with sand or taking a short nap under the sun.
Kostas Spyriounis manages to transfer our thoughts to the past, to a period of time that we keep intact in our minds. We become reminiscent of our youth, when summers seemed ideal while they lasted. And, by the end of the summer, before the first autumn clouds appeared, we had to collect ourselves and leave everything behind.
It is precisely this longing for the last days of the summer that Spyriounis captures in his work. The end of a pleasant season with images of the almost empty beaches in south Evoia trigger memories from places in the past.
